Environmentally-friendly UN building in Montenegro

The first United Nations premises incorporating ecological principles will be built in Montenegro’s capital to a design by Daniel Fügenschuh. The City of Podgorica has donated a very attractive site on the banks of the River Moracˇa for this energetically autonomous building. The special equipment for the ecological technology and building services will be financed by the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by the World University Service Austria. The building itself is being financed by the Montenegrin government and will have a usable surface area of approximately 1400 m². Completion is scheduled for 2008. Read more…

Vikas apartments, Auroville, Tamil Nadu

Mati Ghar, Exhibition Gallery of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi

The structure was originally designed as a temporary exhibition space to

last only a few years. The intent was to use it to house a special exhibition on

time (Kala) as part of the activities of the IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National

Centre for the Arts). However, the life of the structure was extended through

some modifications and the structure has been retained for about a decade

now till at least the main building of the IGNCA is completed. Read more…

Shelter for the Tribals of Peachiparai

Since time immemorial, the underprivileged kani tribals have been living in hutments made of mud, bamboo and leaves and are put to untold misery especially during the monsoon periods which last for almost 6 months. Their repeated pleas for improvement of their huts could not be met. Read more…

Solar village in Pefki

A housing project of the Greek Workers Housing Organization in Pefki (a suburb in the Athens area) was selected as a suitable large scale project for the implementation of the Solar Village Project. It consists of 435 apartments in 30 buildings, an energy centre, a solar information centre and a commercial and community centre, as can be seen in the aerial view of the village. Read more…
