Integrated
Collector Storage Solar Water Heater |
|
|
Description:
Heating water by virtue of
freely available solar energy is still an evolving technology - at least
from the consideration of further process efficiency improvements. A case in
point is that of system integration, which gives the predominant benefit of
making the conversion process much more efficient. This holds a competitive
edge over the conventional type of solar water heating systems with separate
collector and storage units. In the system under consideration, a
rectangular tank of 112x80x10 cms and made of 20 gauge galvanized iron sheet
has a capacity to retain about 90 liters of water. This tank painted black
on the exposed side is encased in a box bearing insulation on the rear side
and glass window on the exposed side. South facing orientation at a
pre-determined tilt angle enables the system to function effectively. This
way, the hot water is gathered from the heater outlet pipe at the top, by
allowing the passage of cold water through the bottom of the collector. Special
Features:
The key feature of
the above-mentioned system is its ability to offer optimum efficiency levels
at some economic gain too. for example, this system heats about 90 liters of
water upto 60°C in winter afternoons and can also cater to early morning
requirements of hot water through a proper operation and maintenance
mechanism. Prospective
